Shroom and Gloom Characters: All 5 Early Access Classes
Roster checked:
The roster
| Character | Status | What is actually known |
|---|---|---|
| Paperboy | Confirmed for Early Access | Named in the August 2026 dev log roster. Team Lazerbeam's earlier game Teenage Blob features a character called Paperperson, so the newspaper-round motif is a studio running joke. |
| Lunch-lady | Confirmed for Early Access | Announced first, in the May 2026 dev log: "Our first new class is the lunch lady, and she's awesome!" — she was the class that proved the system. |
| Concerned Parent | Confirmed for Early Access | Named in the August 2026 dev log roster. No abilities published. |
| Janitor | Confirmed for Early Access | Named in the August 2026 dev log roster. No abilities published. |
| Activist | Confirmed for Early Access | Named in the August 2026 dev log roster. No abilities published. |
How you get them
The same dev log lists "a whole bunch of quests to unlock characters and bolster your card pools", and the May 2026 log describes a reworked meta-progression system that hands out new cards and playstyles. So characters are unlock targets, not a menu you pick from on day one — but the number of quests, and which character each one unlocks, has not been published.
Each path to The Gloom "can now be walked by a variety of different character classes" (May 2026 dev log), so class choice and path choice are separate decisions.
What is not known yet
The five-character roster was published in Team Lazerbeam's August 22, 2026 release-date dev log. Names are quoted exactly as written there. No stats, starting decks or unlock conditions have been published — this page will be filled in against the Early Access build rather than guessed at now.
Once the build is live, character starting decks are the first thing worth mapping against the card list, because each class changes which growth lines on the builds page are even available to you.
